Course outline

Clubs in NSW
Includes topics on the role of clubs in their local community and across the broader section of society, the role that your club has in the local community, the core functions of a club, stakeholders and operational areas, community-owned gambling, ClubSAFE Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct, and harm minimisation.

Definition of Problem Gambling
Includes topics on gambling in Australia, nature and incidence of problem gambling, typical problem gamblers, impact of responsible gambling programs and identifying problem gamblers.

Education
Includes topics on staff education, house gambling policy and procedure, player information and notices, external gambling notices and advertising, conditions of play, use of checklists, ClubSAFE Advertising Code and education.

Prevention through financial policies and procedures
Includes topics on financial policies and procedures, responsibilities of handling cash, credit and cheques, payment of prize money and sample financial policies.

Intervention
Includes topics on the incident register, complaints handling, consumer protection policy, physical environment, counselling and self-exclusion programs, ClubSAFE resources (such as ClubSAFE Responsible Gambling Management Manual) and ClubSAFE in action.

AML/ CTF Act
Includes topics on financial reporting and the Anti-Money Laundering Counter Terrorism Financing Act for general staff.


Course information

An induction course for new and current staff of clubs who are ClubSAFE members. This course details how the ClubSAFE Responsible Gaming Management program links with legislation and best practice on harm minimisation procedures. 90 minutes face-to-face and around 40 minutes online.
