The ClubsNSW Academy Games is a multi-sport sport festival organised and managed by the Academies of Sport Inc (ASi).
The ASi is a unique body representing the 11 Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) operating across New South Wales. Academies include Central Coast, Far West, Hunter, Illawarra, North Coast , Northern Inland, Southern, South East, South West Sydney, Western Region and Western Sydney.
The RAS network covers each of the points of the compass in NSW and the vision and charter of the ASi is to work collaboratively for the betterment of athlete development in NSW and Australia. The development of the ClubsNSW Academy Games is the first demonstration of the strength and commitment of the RAS Network to deliver tangible benefits to athletes throughout NSW.
2007
In excess of 800 athletes competed in approximately 300 matches during three days of competition at the staging of the 2007 ClubsNSW Academy Games held on the Central Coast from 9 to 11 October 2007.
The largest sport was easily netball with over 200 athletes at Bridgecoast Stadium, Terrigal and Central Coast Grammar School, Erina. Other sports played included tennis, rugby, golf, basketball, hockey and an aquathon.
2008/2009
Due to future date clashes with the hosting of the ClubsNSW Academy Games, the ASi has decided to re-schedule the 2008 October Games in Armidale to the new dates of 17-19 April, 2009.
It is anticipated there will be 1100 athletes competing across 11 sports in and around various venues in Armidale.
Future Games will then be held at this time with the Northern Inland Academy to still have hosting rights for 2010 and 2011.
