The NSW Volunteer Rescue Association, generally known as the VRA, is an affiliation of 75 community based volunteer rescue organisations providing accredited primary response, maritime and specialist rescue resources across NSW.

The VRA was formed in 1969 to meet a need in rural NSW. At that time no organisation was willing or able to provide rescue services to rural areas. With strong local support in their communities, VRA rescue squads, modelled on the NSW Police Rescue Squad, were formed in many country towns.

The VRA’s contribution to emergency management is not limited to rescue operations. During major operations the VRA provides considerable operational and logistical support which is amplified by the contribution by their specialist units.

As part of a community partnership with the VRA, ClubsNSW along with Keno is very pleased to provide funding for vital rescue equipment.
