Expressions of Interest for the 2009 Chef’s Table have now closed. The 12 finalist teams will be announced on Friday 16th January 2009.

ClubsNSW Chef's Table aims to develop the skills and knowledge of chefs and apprentices working within registered clubs in New South Wales. It also provides an ideal opportunity for clubs to market and showcase their excellent dining options to members and the general public.

Now into its fifth year, the competition attracts a strong media response and has been used successfully by past finalists and winners as an innovative marketing tool to drive increased restaurant patronage and sales.

A New Level of Competition
In 2008 the competition took the next step forward as the winners of the NSW, ACT, QLD, SA and VIC competitions competed for the national Chef's Table award. The winners for 2008 announced at the ClubsNSW Annual Conference Dinner on Monday 13 October 2008. This is an exciting development for this great competition and shows the commitment of clubs across Australia to promoting fine dining in clubs. For more information please see National Chef’s Table.

How Does the Competition Work?
Teams of two from clubs across the state design a three course menu for a maximum food cost of $18 (+gst) per person. The best twelve entries then stage a finals event at their club where they prepare the menu for 20 guests. Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are awarded and the Gold team go on to represent NSW in the National Chef’s Table Competition.

Media
The competition attracts significant media attention and finalist clubs have a fantastic opportunity to use their finalist status as the basis for a story on their restaurant in the local paper. See below for just a small selection of the great stories that came out of the 2008 competition.
