2008 will see the inaugural National Chef’s Table Award taking place at ClubsNSW Annual Conference Dinner on Monday, 13 October.  The presentation and dinner will take place at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre.

With competing States including the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, this competition provides an ideal opportunity for club members and the general public across Australia to recognise clubs as true dining destinations. It also aims to develop the skills and knowledge of chefs and apprentices working within the club industry.

What are the main objectives?

• Further develop the skills and knowledge of chefs and apprentices working within registered clubs throughout Australia, through recognition of their culinary abilities demonstrated by creativity and innovation.
  
• Encourage the continual raising of standards in club kitchens and provide a benchmark for best practice in the club industry.
  
• Promote an appreciation for registered clubs, within the community, as true dining destinations alongside Australia’s many fine non-club restaurants.
  
• Become one of Australia’s most prestigious, annual culinary competitions.
  
• To encourage more culinary teams to enter their state competition.
  
• To develop a stronger sense of understanding about the way clubs operate in the competing states, for club members and management.

The judging team will consist of 5 Tasting Judges, all being the Head Judge from their own state’s Chefs Table competition.  They will be led by Chairman of Judges, and one of Australia’s most well known food and wine commentators, Mr Peter Howard.
