Youth Off The Streets founder Father Chris Riley AM, has spoken out against Andrew Wilkie’s $3 billion mandatory pre-commitment scheme, saying the Federal Government’s focus should instead be on counselling and education.

RUGBY LEAGUE SPEAR TACKLED BY GOVERNMENT’S NEW POKIE LAWS
Proposed new laws agreed to by the Prime Minister and Tasmanian Independent MP Andrew Wilkie that place bet limits on poker machines will cost the 14 leagues clubs that financially support teams in the NRL more than $215 million.

FLOOD RELIEF DONATIONS SHOW NO SIGN OF STOPPING FIVE WEEKS ON
Five weeks after an inland tsunami ripped through Toowoomba and south eastern Queensland, donations to the Premiers Flood Relief Appeal from clubs and their members are continuing to pour in. The total amount donated by clubs and their members currently sits at $1.138 million.

CLUBS REJECT WILKIE'S POKIE PLAN
ClubsAustralia has told the parliamentary committee on gambling that the Federal Government’s plan to force limits on how much people can bet on poker machines will not reduce problem gambling. Executive Director of ClubsAustralia Anthony Ball told the committee that the technology has failed to reduce problem gambling in Norway, which is the only country in the world to have installed mandatory pre-commitment technology on poker machines.

Clubs across NSW will play host to hundreds of flood relief fundraising events this weekend and over the course of the next two months with all monies going to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
