RTA Changes to Under-18 Driver's Licences

RTA Licence Changes

The RTA has announced changes to NSW driver licences issued to under-18 year olds.

Under the changes, the date a card holder turns 18 will now be listed on the licence, in addition to the card holder’s date of birth.

This adjustment will be introduced progressively from late-May 2010 to assist in the identification of those people under the age of 18.

The new-look licence will remain valid after the licence holder turns 18 and will be valid until the expiry date shown on the card.

Licences already issued to under-18s without these new security features will remain valid until the expiry date shown on the card.

Licences issued to over-18s will not be changing. It is suggested that club security staff, including contractors, be advised of this change.
