Kate Conquers Kokoda Trek

Denistone’s Kate Darmody has arrived home after conquering the Kokoda Trek. The recreational therapy assistant at Royal Rehab who was chosen as this year’s ClubsNSW Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge Scholarship recipient, managed to overcome the physical and mental battles to successfully complete the Kokoda Trek.

Warmer weather will greet one young leader from Sydney’s Northern Suburbs, when she leaves Sydney tomorrow to embark on the Kokoda Trail. 22 year old Kate Darmody, a successful recipient of this year’s ClubsNSW Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge Scholarship, will tackle the trek over 10 days and gain an understanding of what life was like for Australian soldiers during World War II.

It is with deep regret I advise that Mr Pat Rogan, who was Chairman of ClubsNSW from 1999 until 2004, passed away on Tuesday evening, finally succumbing to illness after a brave battle.
