NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian today announced that the current lockdown for Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour will be extended for at least another two weeks until 11:59pm on Friday, 30 July. The Premier also announced that the restrictions in other parts of NSW will continue for the additional two-week period.
A summary of the restrictions currently in place can be found in Circular 21-111.
Testing requirements for certain workers and contractors
Clubs should also be aware of new requirements for certain staff and contractors to get tested for COVID-19 regularly.
From Monday, 19 July 2021, a person who lives in Greater Sydney (including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour) must not work in any location more than 50km outside Greater Sydney unless they have been tested for COVID-19 in the past seven days.
Following this date, such workers will be required to produce evidence that they have been tested for COVID-19 in the previous seven days.
Clubs may be penalised if any worker in their premises breaches this requirement. This includes employees of the club as well as contractors and other service providers (e.g. contractors performing maintenance) who work at the premises and reside in ‘Greater Sydney’.
A club has the authority to ask a person who is at the premises to prove they have had a COVID-19 test in the past seven days. Proof may take the form of a text message from the pathology provider.
In addition, workers or contractors who reside in the Fairfield local government area (LGA) must be tested for COVID-19 every 72 hours (three days) if they work outside the Fairfield LGA. These requirements come into force on Saturday, 17 July. This means that, where a club employee or contractor resides in Fairfield, the club must verify the person was tested in the previous 72 hours.
