COVID-19 Updates - 17th March, 2020

The spread of COVID-19 continues to cause unprecedented disruptions to social life and the business environment. Member Clubs are advised to undertake workforce planning for the eventuality that clubs are temporarily forced to cease trading.

Relief for clubs

Today the NSW Government announced payroll tax relief, which will apply to clubs with payrolls of up to $10 million. The waiver will apply to clubs’ payment of payroll tax for the remainder of the 2019-20 financial year. The NSW Government has also increased the payroll tax-free threshold from $900,000 to $1 million.

Government advice for employers

SafeWork NSW has published the following advice for employers:

  • review policies and procedures, actively promote social distancing, good hand and respiratory hygiene and reducing close personal contact
  • develop and implement safe systems of work (in consultation with workers and/or their HSR’s) that include directions and advice provided by our health authorities, and
  • keep monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it develops, NSW Health provide a heat map of confirmed cases by region that may assist.

Complying with regulatory requirements

ClubsNSW is engaging with Liquor and Gaming NSW (LGNSW) to identify regulatory requirements with which clubs may struggle to comply.

Member clubs are invited to submit topics for ClubsNSW to raise with LGNSW. Clubs can submit topics to via email to the Member Enquiries Centre.

Cancellation and changes to ClubsNSW events and meetings

Regionals

All ClubsNSW regionals until 14 June 2020 are cancelled. Member Clubs will be advised in due course on the round of regionals scheduled to commence in July 2020.

Club Directors Institute and Mandatory Director Training

Face-to-face sessions for Club Directors Institute (CDI) and Mandatory Director Training (MDT) are cancelled until 14 June 2020. ClubsNSW may further extend the period of cancellation at a subsequent date.

ClubsNSW’s training team is making arrangements to distribute CDI sessions in an online or digital format. Participants in face-to-face MDT sessions can still complete their training online (click here for more information).

Australasian Hospitality and Gaming Expo

Member clubs are advised that the AHGE (18-19 March 2020) has been cancelled. Attendees should have been contacted directly by AHGE.
