COVID-19 Updates - 26th August, 2021

4:45pm, 26th August, 2021

Member clubs are advised that earlier today, Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that the lockdown of regional NSW is being extended by two weeks until 11.59pm on Friday, 10 September 2021.

The decision to extend the lockdown comes amid high levels of transmission in Western NSW and virus fragments detected in sewage at multiple locations across regional NSW.

The restrictions for clubs in regional areas remain unchanged, which means clubs may continue to operate takeaway food and beverages.

Clubs are reminded that they may utilise the stand-down provisions under section 524 of the Fair Work Act 2009 for the duration of the closure. Employees who are stood down are not entitled to payment from the club for the period of the stand-down.

Clubs that stand down employees will remain eligible for JobSaver. Clubs are only ineligible for JobSaver if employees are made redundant, thereby reducing headcount.

Employees who are stood down are entitled to apply for the COVID-19 Disaster Payment. Further information on the payment can be found in Circular 21-139

The Premier also announced that the Government would consider options for businesses to reopen for vaccinated people. ClubsNSW has prepared a reopening plan for the club industry which has been endorsed by an infectious diseases expert..
