5:20pm, 27th January, 2021
NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, has announced changes to the Public Health Order, which will come into force from 12:01am this Friday, 29 January 2021.
Easing of capacity restrictions
The 300 patron per area capacity limit will be removed. Capacity will be determined in accordance with the 1 person per 4 square metres rule, with no upper limit.
Weddings and memorial services
The capacity for weddings and memorial services, including wakes, will be increased from 100 to 300 attendees. The capacity will be subject to the 1 person per 4 square metres rule.
Dancing and singing
The NSW-wide restrictions on dancing and singing will continue. There should be no dancefloors, with the exception of up to 20 members of a wedding party. No more than 5 performers should sing indoors. All performing singers should face forwards, have physical distancing of 1.5m between each other and any other performers, and be 5 metres from all other patrons. In indoor areas, audience members should not participate in singing or chanting.
Further easing of restrictions
The removal of the 300 patron per area capacity limit is welcomed. The Premier foreshadowed that the Government anticipates reverting to 1 patron per 2 square metres in 2 weeks’ time if the current trends continue
