COVID-19 Updates - 3rd February, 2021

4:30pm, 3rd February, 2021

Member clubs are advised that, today, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian foreshadowed that the density cap for clubs in ‘Greater Sydney’ would revert to 1 patron per 2 square metres from Friday, 12 February 2021.

The changes will affect clubs located in the ‘Greater Sydney’ area, which includes Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and the local government areas of Wollongong and the Central Coast.

The changes announced by the Premier are subject to community transmissions of COVID-19 remaining low.

Currently, clubs in ‘Greater Sydney’ do not have an upper limit for capacity but must not allow capacity to exceed 1 patron per 4 square metres in indoor areas and 1 patron per 2 square metres in outdoor areas. Under the proposed changes, capacity across the venue will be 1 patron per 2 square metres.

The Premier also foreshadowed changes to the venues or circumstances in which face masks must be worn.

Legislation has not been registered to give effect to the announcement today.
