Reopening roadmap

Today the Prime Minister announced a three-step roadmap for businesses to reopen. A copy of the announcement can be found here. Under the roadmap, in:

Step 1: Clubs may seat 10 patrons in its dining area. Club bar and gaming areas cannot open

Step 2: Clubs may seat 20 patrons in its dining area. Club bar and gaming areas cannot open

Step 3: Clubs may permit 100 patrons. Consideration will be given to opening bar and gaming areas.

The reality is most clubs will not be able to viably trade in line with the restrictions outlined above and as such will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

It is important to note that state and territory governments are responsible for the easing of restrictions. The NSW Government has yet to announce its re-opening plan and it is unclear whether it will follow the roadmap outlined by the Prime Minister. An announcement by the NSW Government is expected soon.

ClubsNSW continues to engage with the NSW Government and will seek further clarity on when clubs can resume operations.

More information and guidance on this can be found in circ 20-062.
