Overview
This course provides directors with a clear understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and legal obligations in governing a registered club. A key focus is the distinction between the board’s governance and oversight responsibilities and management’s operational responsibilities, helping to ensure an effective separation of powers and accountability.
This course is for
- Newly elected club directors
- Existing directors seeking to strengthen governance knowledge and board effectiveness
Requirement
This course is required under the Registered Clubs Regulation 2015. It provides directors with an understanding of the complex role and responsibilities of a club director, including corporate governance, legislation, strategic and succession planning, and compliance requirements.
Timeframes and exemptions
- Directors who complete the course within 12 months of appointment to the role
- A minimum of two directors is required for small clubs with gaming revenue of less than $1 million
