The biggest event on the club industry calendar has begun with the ClubsNSW and Clubs Queensland Race Day at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
The 2026 ClubsNSW Conference officially got underway on Wednesday, 7 October with industry leaders, club representatives and corporate partners gathering at the Gold Coast Turf Club for the second annual ClubsNSW and Clubs Queensland Race Day.
Building on the success of its debut last year, the Race Day once again provided delegates with an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and enjoy a day of networking before the main Conference program begins tomorrow.
“It’s terrific to see so many familiar faces here today as we once again come together ahead of the 2026 ClubsNSW Conference,” said ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant.
Rebecca thanked Gold Coast Turf Club CEO Steve Lines and his team for again hosting the event and acknowledged the strong partnership between ClubsNSW and Clubs Queensland.
“It is a brilliant opportunity for networking across the states — we have so many common interests, and so much that we can share and learn from each other,” she said.
“I particularly want to thank the Clubs Queensland CEO Kelly Egan and his team, and Board, led by Brendan O’Farrell, for their partnership and participation in Clubs Australia advocacy work nationally — together, united, we are stronger.”
The day’s racing action was complemented by the Women’s Networking Event, providing an opportunity to recognise the role of women across the industry.
“I’m incredibly proud to be part of an industry filled with capable women who are strengthening their clubs and communities every day,” said ClubsNSW Chair Sallianne Faulkner.
“By continuing to support one another, open doors and bring diverse perspectives to the table, we can help shape an even stronger future for our industry.”
A feature of the event was an interactive project led by graphic scribe Indi Dust, who created a visual representation of advice from attendees for future leaders of the industry.
Guests were invited to answer the question: “What should the next generation of women leaders in clubs know?” with their responses becoming part of a collaborative visual letter.
“Leadership is strengthened when we share what we’ve learned with those coming through behind us,” said Sallianne.
The main component of the 2026 ClubsNSW Conference begins tomorrow at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, with an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, industry leaders, regulators and policymakers — including AUSTRAC CEO Brendan Thomas and NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing David Harris.
Tomorrow’s program also includes the ClubsNSW AGM and the ever-popular Keno Conference Party. The Conference will conclude on Friday with a closing conversation featuring actor, author and television personality Matt Nable, when delegates will come together to raise funds in support of the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
