More than three decades after helping bring Keno to NSW clubs, long-serving ClubKeno Holdings Director Anne Munro has been recognised.

Anne Munro has been named an Honorary Life Member of ClubsNSW, recognising more than 30 years of outstanding service to the registered club industry.

The honour was announced at the 2026 ClubsNSW Annual General Meeting on the Gold Coast and conferred by the Board on the recommendation of State Council.

Anne’s association with Keno began before the game was licensed or played in NSW clubs. In 1989, while working as a consultant with Critchley & Associates, she was seconded to the Keno Task Force established to research the practicalities of operating the game. The task force had been formed following years of advocacy by the Registered Clubs Association of NSW, now known as ClubsNSW.

After an intensive lobbying campaign and extensive work to establish how the game could operate in clubs, ClubKeno Holdings was granted a licence to operate Keno on behalf of clubs in September 1990. A joint venture was formed with AWA Limited the following month, paving the way for Club Keno to launch in September 1991.

Anne’s involvement in the Keno Task Force placed her at the heart of the foundational work that helped turn the industry’s vision into a reality. She remained closely connected to the game following its introduction and was appointed to the ClubKeno Holdings Board on 6 November 1995.

By the time Keno celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2021, she had become the organisation’s longest-serving director, a distinction she continues to hold today.

“[It’s been] a privilege over the last 32 years to have been a close witness to the passion and drive that conceptualised, realised and developed the game of Keno in NSW clubs,” she told ClubLife in 2021 during Keno’s 30-year anniversary.

“In addition to the direct benefit to clubs through the receipt of overnight commissions and the additional commission paid by ClubKeno Holdings, Keno has provided a source of revenue to ClubsNSW which has funded the provision of direct and in-direct industry support, community support and also, through its carefully developed television, radio and print campaigns, a growth in awareness of the essential role of clubs in the community.”

Announcing the Life Membership at the 2026 ClubsNSW AGM, ClubsNSW Chair Sallianne Faulkner paid tribute to Anne’s exceptional contribution.

“She has been a passionate and steadfast supporter of ClubsNSW and our member clubs, bringing great knowledge, care and commitment to everything she has done,” Sallianne told the AGM.

“Anne, this recognition is thoroughly deserved, and on behalf of ClubsNSW and our members, I warmly congratulate and thank you.”
