The K’s for Karl’s Family 24hr Treadmill Challenge — created in memory of much-loved long-term Doylo team member Karl — has raised over $60,000.

The power of community was on full display at The Doylo in August, with team members, business partners, Active Fitness HQ members and locals coming together to complete an extraordinary 616 kilometres on a treadmill in just 24 hours, raising $60,000 for the family of a dearly departed colleague.

The K’s for Karl’s Family 24hr Treadmill Challenge, held across Thursday, 20 and Friday, 21 August was created in memory of much-loved long-term Doylo team member Karl, who sadly passed away in July following a battle with cancer at just 48 years of age.

Karl was a dedicated member of The Doylo team, a proud member of the local community and someone remembered for the energy, humour and kindness he brought to those around him. He was a devoted husband to Megan and loving dad to his two young daughters.

The challenge began with an ambitious goal — complete 300 kilometres in 24 hours and raise $75,000 to support Megan and the girls. What happened next demonstrated just how powerful a community can be when it rallies behind one of its own. Participants didn’t just reach the 300-kilometre target, they smashed it, collectively clocking an incredible 616 kilometres, while the generosity of supporters resulted in $60,000 being raised for Karl’s family.

Doylo Lifestyle Group CEO Brett Elliss said the response was an extraordinary demonstration of community spirit.

“I am just so proud of our team, our Active Fitness members, our business partners and our community. Thank you for your time, your generosity and your incredible community spirit,” he said.

“This support will have such a meaningful impact for Megan and the girls during an incredibly difficult time.”

Karl’s wife Megan said the response from The Doylo and the broader community had been overwhelming.

“There are truly no words that can express how grateful we are for the kindness, generosity and love shown to me and the girls.

“The support from The Doylo and the community means so much and reminds us that we are not alone.”

For The Doylo, the event was about much more than kilometres travelled or dollars raised. It was about people coming together, looking after one another and demonstrating what genuine community connection looks like.

“This is a great example of the power of community and the positive impact clubs can have within their communities,” Mr Elliss said.

The Doylo extends its heartfelt thanks to every person who ran, walked, donated, sponsored, volunteered, supported and helped make K’s for Karl’s Family such an extraordinary demonstration of community spirit.
