Episode 109: Clubs Make Moves to Address Housing Crisis

A new McKell Institute report has highlighted the role registered clubs could play in easing NSW’s housing shortage, with the industry capable of delivering tens of thousands of new homes with the right policy settings.

As the homelessness crisis deepens across NSW, registered clubs are playing an important role in supporting those doing it tough. From raising funds through sleepout events to providing food, medical care and other essentials to those less fortunate, the industry is delivering practical help where it's needed most.

More than 200 registered clubs across NSW turned their venues purple on Friday, 8 May in a visible stand against domestic and family violence. Specially trained club staff were equipped to provide patrons with discreet support and practical resources — reinforcing the role clubs play as safe, trusted spaces within their communities.
