COVID-19 Updates - 20th April, 2020

2.00pm, 20th April, 2020

Member clubs may be aware that on 16th March, RSL NSW made the decision to cancel all public ANZAC Day commemoration services across the state, following discussions with the NSW Government. ClubsNSW will advise member clubs as soon as official advice from the Government regarding ANZAC Day commemorations is provided.

In light of strict lockdowns, ClubsNSW - under the Your local club brand - has launched an ANZAC Day campaign encouraging members of the public to submit their video messages of support to veterans. We will compile these and make them available to organisations, including Team Rubicon Australia and RSL NSW, to distribute to their veteran contacts on ANZAC Day, as well as sharing across the Your local club social media accounts which clubs are also encouraged to share.

While everyone will be missing out on ANZAC Day activities this year, the people worst affected will undoubtedly be our veteran community. For them, ANZAC Day is particularly significant as it’s the one day where they can mix with other ex-servicemen and women and find some solace in their shared experience. By sending veterans a short message of support, we can show them that even though we can’t be together this year, we’re still behind them.

To take part in the campaign, individuals should film a short video of themselves on their phone (landscape preferred) with a message about what their usual ANZAC Day would be like and a note to veterans. From there, they should go to yourlocalclub.com.au, add their details, upload the video and submit.

ClubsNSW encourages member clubs to share the campaign with members via any existing communication channels (like direct email newsletters), and on club social media accounts. A recruitment video explaining the campaign and instructions has already been posted to the Your local club Facebook page, which member clubs should feel free to share, and additional social assets can be downloaded here.

For any other information or questions regarding the campaign, please contact Gioenne Rapisarda, ClubsNSW Marketing Executive (grapisarda@clubsnsw.com.au).
