COVID-19 Updates - 24th April, 2020

8.30am, 24th April, 2020

The NSW Government has confirmed that registered clubs are now eligible for the $10,000 small business grants announced in Circular 20-049.

ClubsNSW welcomes the NSW Government’s confirmation that clubs are eligible, which ClubsNSW advocated for on behalf of member clubs. The grants previously precluded public companies limited by guarantee, including clubs, from applying.

The $10,000 grant can be used to cover various unavoidable expenses, including; utilities, telecommunications and insurance, as well as wages and salaries which are not subsidised through JobKeeper.

In order to be eligible, a club’s payroll for the 2019-20 year must be less than the tax-free threshold of $900,000.

Moreover, the club must employ between 1 and 19 full-time employees.

Eligible businesses must also have suffered a reduction in revenue of 75% or more in a two-week period, relative to the same period in 2019. However, as clubs are listed as a highly impacted industry, a club will not need a letter from an accountant to demonstrate the reduction in revenue.

Eligible clubs are strongly encouraged to apply for the grant – the application process and guidelines can be accessed here.

Applications are open until 1 June 2020.
